About ME
Hello. My name’s Greg Thorpe. I’m a creative producer, writer, curator and artist.
I collaborate with artists, venues and organisations to make work that stimulates and inspires.
Alongside my curation and production I mentor artists at all stages of their creative life, and I host workshops aimed at creative practitioners, students, artists and freelancers.
For fifteen years I’ve been involved in lots of different creative ventures, including visual art, club nights, cinema, cabaret, publishing, activism, live literature, dance, theatre, performance art, festivals and more.
I am currently Festival Director for GAZE, Ireland’s International LGBTQIA Film Festival.
I’ve worked with Manchester Pride, Islington Mill, Meltdown Festival, The Lowry, University of Manchester, HOME, Manchester Art Gallery, Cornerhouse, the Whitworth, Manchester Metropolitan University, Festival No. 6, Hope Mill Theatre, Science & Industry Museum, Manchester Literature Festival, Paper Gallery, Trans Creative, University of Salford, and more.
I write fiction and non-fiction. I’m an experienced art critic and cultural journalist, former theatre critic for Manchester Evening News, and always open to commissions and collaborations.
I’m a proud Trustee of TLC-St Luke’s, a small charity in Manchester that offers free mental heath drop-ins for vulnerable members of the community, including using art as a tool for engagement and empowerment.
